What is the EAS Paying for College – Education Resource Center
The EAS Paying for College – Education Resource Center (ERC) is a reservoir of information and resources about preparing and paying for a successful college and beyond experience. This site has been created especially for the EAS Alliance Groups and their member constituents: students, parents, families and alumni, as well as college and university financial aid, recruitment and enrollment management professionals.
Both informative and practical, the ERC should be thought of and utilized very much like a shopping mall or library. Each visit is unique in that you most likely will arrive with something in mind, and will look, often very closely at a lot of other things. You are not expected to buy every product or to read every book each visit. The ERC is designed for you to return often and explore its many venues dedicated to “Paying for College” questions, concerns and strategies.
The information found in the ERC is based on fundamental financial aid, financial management and planning skills. The information contained on the ERC site will reduce the likelihood that students and their families will be overwhelmed by the costs of pursuing a college education or caught without basic information about how to survive the financial complications of paying for college. Students and families will also gain an informed understanding of their financial responsibilities and develop appropriate skills to manage financial issues in collaboration with the financial aid office and their personal professional financial advisors.
In collaboration with the EAS Alliance Groups, ERC endorsed products and services have been specifically developed to compliment and prepare students and families for success in achieving their goals.
Everyone should begin with Getting Started to get an overview of what things need to be done and thought about first. Parents may wish to start with the
Paying the College Bill section in order to get a sense of where they stand and develop an approach to getting the most out of the financial aid process, scholarship opportunities and their own college education dollars. Students and parents can use the Education Resource Center’s Paying for College
– Seven Step Approach to Paying for College to create, organize and execute a plan to pay for college. Students and parents alike will benefit from the
Learning the Language and Understanding the System section. This section provides detailed information and resources on the key financial aid programs and strategies to maximize financial aid opportunities. Student, families and school administrators can use the
Building Assets and Wealth for College and Beyond section to enhance and build lifelong knowledge and skills in financial planning and debt management. This section can be used as a self-study guide/resource or as a point of reference to facilitate discussion and teaching about money management, credit and goal setting.
Regularly exploring the Education Resource Center site will help develop an attitude of confidence in your knowledge of over-all money management practices that you will need to maintain control of your finances now and in the future. Mark it as a favorite and it will serve you well for years to come.
