Eligibility
You may be able to obtain a Consolidation Loan to pay off your Stafford student loans even if your loans were made, serviced, or are being held by other lenders including Direct student loans made by the U.S. Department of Education through your school.
A reduction in initial payments of up to 50% may be available through the graduated repayment plan. Examples of payments through Loan Consolidation.
YOU ARE ELIGIBLE to consolidate your loans with EAS Loan Consolidation Program if you:
- Have at least two Federal Stafford Student loans from two different lenders or have only Federal Direct Loans.
- Are out of school or less than half-time attendance.
- Are in the grace or the repayment period, and
- Do not have another consolidation application pending.
Loan Types Eligible for Consolidation:
- Federal Subsidized and Unsubsidized Stafford Loans
- Federal Direct Subsidized and Unsubsidized Loans
- Federal Supplementary Loans (SLS)
- Federal Perkins Loans
- Federal Nursing Student Loans (NSL)
- Health Professions Student Loans (HPSL)
